Sushi Dinner

We wanted to go to our favorit sushi restaurant, Sushi Den for some anniversary, but it was closed. So home sushi dinner. One of the reasons to live in NYC... You can buy sushi fish any time. Yummy.

Chicken Lunch

Early lunch, 11 am at exact, as we both live still in kind of European time. Chicken dish to celebrate the labor day weekend and to prepare for today's bigger dinner...

Dinner with a Frind

Friend from my old company visited on his business, and we went to the restaurant in the central station. Touristy yet very cool location to have a meal.

Brussels Weekend Trip

To refresh our long stay at a hotel, we went to Brussels for the weekend. The palace was open to the public for free, and we took advantage of it. I passed this building so many times but did not know how gorgeous the inside is.
Each room had different themes and colors and we enjoyed it very much.
We took lunch in down town where not so many tourists were.
Our dinner was at this neighborhood type Italian restaurant. Very close to what we can get in NYC.

Lazy Sunday in Amsterdam

Started with rain but it cleared by noon.
We found this cool restraint outside of city center. 30 minutes of work from the hotel led to this place. Perfect to have lunch outside under the shade. This local beer was very fresh taste perfect for the summer.
The building was originally used for water pump, I heard.
On the way back two scoops of light ice cream... Not too bad.

Day Trip to Den Haag

It was my second time to visit this city, but this time we visited the areas I have not.
I might have posted the picture of this building before but more than one year ago.
Early dinner outside with a glass of European beer. Just perfect.

New Way to Discover the City

It seems a new way to discover the city on the canals. Saw many in Hawaii but not here before. Cool.

Kimchi Kimchi...

A bag of Kimchi needed to be consumed before I leave, so after making a soup yesterday, it was a freed rice turn.
A bit of aged sour taste gave a kick to the dish. Delicious.

Last Days of The Break

Easy Saturday lunch to make our lives easier. Drove 20 minutes to Yorkers, north of the Bronx. It does not look like we were in NY.
It had been abounded but the city started revitalize this hidden park.
Water lilies were in full with multiple colors.
The last stop was a grocery store, famous for their dairy items. NON fat soft serve.

Trip to Ithaca (Day Three)

The last day of our trip. Went to this place for the breakfast. Crunchy outside and custardy inside. Good with a nice cup of freshly brewed coffee.
After the meal, we took a walk in the Cornell botanical garden. All the summer flowers were in full bloom.

Trip to Ithaca (Day Two)

After a light breakfast, we went to a hike along the creek. 4 mile trail gave us so many beautiful views.
After the lunch and another ice cream treat, we drove north to a winerry.
It was actually better than Napa valley. Fantastic views here again.

Trip to Ithaca NY (Day One)

To take an advantage of the fact that I can be in NY and on break, we decided to go to Ithaca NY.
This city is the home for Cornell university, one of ivy leagues.
It islocated at the edge of one of the figure lakes.
We researched this Italian place located on the way. Home made past and sauce were surprisingly good.
Biggest ice cream EVER.

Break in Greenwich

I think this town has to be one of the richest in the nation. You can see all high-end shops on one street. You have to have $$$ to live like them in this toen.
For me, after browsing some shops, reading a book under the tree with some SWEET drink. A fabulous day to be outside.

Simple Lunch

Lazy Friday lunch at home. Cold Soba Noodle with some vegetables. Before heading to a drive to near by town for...

Trip back to NYC

I was READY to go home in NYC...

Somehow I got lucky to book a FIRST class this time. I know there is a difference between economy and business, but believe me there is a difference between business and first classes.
If I did not tell you that these meals were in the flight, you would think I was at a French restaurant or something...
Instead of a typical breakfast (they had Japanese and French/American options), I had a bowl of ramen AND their famous curry along with the fruits plate.
SATISFIED...

Tokyo Stay

After coming back from Hawaii (yes, my trip started from Amsterdam, Japan (just for several hours), Hawaii), and I had four nights in Tokyo.

Thank to many stays at the hotel in Amsterdam, I was able to stay at one of the most luxurious hotels in Tokyo. Look at the bath room which is see through to living room (yup not to bed room as I was able to have a suite).
The hallway was as impressive as the room itself.
One of the reasons of visiting Tokyo (which is NOT my hometown) is to meet up with friends (and have good foods).
This time they selected a low-key Japanese-Italian place where you can have both fresh vegetables and seafood.
I am always impressed by the quality of the food in Japan. One of the proofs here is the noodle in Tokyo (like $5) was better than $15 here in NYC. WHY???

Trip to Hawaii (Two and last)

Some random pictures from this trip. I could not get enough of the views from the hotel room - I guess some people can tell which hotel (and which tower) we stayed at.
One of the nights there we had a meal at the Italian restaurant. Better than I expected.
After my 2nd visit to Hawaii, I can see myself being here every year or two. It is a perfect combination for me - it is still America yet you can feel some exotic aspects - good Asian food (vs. not available in Caliban islands, of course), convenience of big cities yet it is pretty rural when you drive 30 minutes or less.

Polish Meal Outside

This was the first meal when coming back to NYC on Wednesday. It was perfect to be outside - especially after spending days in humid Tokyo.

Home Cooking Dinner

After a long period of absence from home (Amsterdam, Hawaii, Tokyo) I was craved for home cooking. Summer curry and some summer vegetables.
Perfect...
