Sunday Dinner

It was an ideal Sunday - after sleeping late, had breakfast and lunch at home, drove to a park to feel the arrival of fall. We cook dinner using the stuff bought at the Korean grocery. Everything came out good.

Korean Saturday

We were mood for Korea, so drove a car to NJ. Our favorite soft tofu restaurant all time. Their kimchies are so good. No pictures but we cooked Korean pancakes for dinner.

Friday Dinner

Home cooking using seasonal vegetables. I was not a big fan of snow peas before but now it is one of my favorite summer vegetables.

Thursday Italian Dinner

We drove to City Island - part of the Bronx but it does not feel like it for seafood/Italian dinner.
There are several huge seafood restaurants but this is the one we go - small Italian restaurant. We were in very casual clothes while others seemed a bit more dressed up.
Antipasto and TWO pasta dishes...
Baked shellfish and some eggplant dishes.
I don't know you can see the size of it, but our pasta dishes were HUMONGOUS. Obviously we needed to take them home, which could be good for lunch... Yum yum.

Sunday in Brooklyn Heights

Sunday should be like this -
Brunch at a Mexican restaurant with a great view of the city. It is located in Carroll Garden (or Cobble Hill not sure), so the view is slightly different from the one from BH, but I don't think there is any other restaurant which has this kind of view, except of course River Cafe.
We had BLT and their skirt steak sandwiches. Both were really good, especial steak one. They know how to cook this type of cut and their Mexican potato salad was good too. We are not a big fan of Mexican food in general, but this place has ordinal American food with their Mexican twists.
After shopping at Fairway (without stopping by at Baked this time), we cooked dinner at home. We were in the mood for chicken, so it end up with tomato based stew. It came out good and maybe it would be even tastier today or tomorrow.

Fireworks

I was totally lounging at the apartment when starting hearing big noises. I knew they were fireworks. Just graded the scarf (yup it is chilly out) and I went to the park. Only dozen of people when I got there. It was one of the best I have ever seen. I still don't know what that was for.
Please see the video too.

Sunset

I know the sunset in Hawaii was amazing, but look at this. Yesterday was a stormy day but the air today looks clear, don't you think?

Monday Home Cooking

I have to love my job which gives extreme flexibility. Like today I can have a weekend like dinner. Just for my defence, I do need to work really hard.

Street Fair

It is almost end of the season but we had a street fair to go this weekend. Not a big one you might see on the 3rd ave. in the city but it was cute. The highlight was BBQ by local fire fighters.

Dinner Fixed

Long time since last time we cooked a weekend dinner. Today was more like "fixed". I was reading the book The Help, BTW it is a pretty good book and I can see someone make the movie with maybe Jennifer Hudson in, and always the author uses the word "fixed" vs. cooked or prepared.
Meats were prepared and we cooked the vegetables to fix the dinner. Food one though.

Anniversary Dinner

We had something to celebrate.
Like last year, we went to one of our favorite restaurants in the city - Sushi Den. We requested our favorite chef - Mr. K. this year as well. Sitting in front of him and watching his work was very entertaining. Shinny fish, white fish, octopus / calamari and others... our favorites for the nights was Aji and salmon skin roll - very crunchy.
We don't come here often, but when we come here we always have a great time. There are many sushi restaurants in the city, but in our opinion this is one of the best (I can't ignore Sushi Yasuda...)
We are for sure we will come back for next year's anniversary or earlier.

Back in NYC

It was a wonderful trip to Hawaii, but on the way back from the airport in the taxi, I was thinking how pretty Brooklyn Heights is and I love BH.
Here are a few more pictures from Hawaii.
We had a wonderful dinner at THE French restaurant in Honolulu - the food was great, the view was stunning, and the staffs were very professional.
At one of famous lunch plate places we had salmon and Ahi tuna fish plates.
We had an infinity pool which was really cool. You feel like this pool is in the air when you are in. Loved this hotel, but there are a lot of nice onces near by too.

Breakfast at the Terrace

Last day here in the big island. As usual we had breakfast outside. We can't get enough of this gorgeous view from the room.

The View from Our Room

Which one is better this or the one in Honolulu. Though choice. It is going to be a great day today.
