Day Trip to Delft

The weather was nice today so a day trip to Delft, one hour southwest of Amsterdam.
Finally I had a chance to eat pancake, which is much thinner than an American one. Our snack was another traditional dish, apple pie.
We had a BMW this week.

Dinner in Amsterdam

We went to this unique restaurant across the river for dinner. We could have taken a ferry to cross the river but we drove there to be safe side.
This restaurant was converted from the warehouse, and the interior is very barebone.
Food was the best so far I had in the Netherlands.

Saturday in Amsterdam

It was supposed to be a rainy day but it turned out to be a fantastic day. We walked around the city.
Lunch at an Italian restaurant. Really good.
Today's snack was this ice cream. Not fatty yet tasty.

Lunch in Park Slope

A good thing about Brooklyn is that if you drive 5 minutes, or a few subway stops, you can be in a different neighborhood. This time we came to Park Slope. The weather is perfect this weekend so we sat outside. Food was as goods we remembered, but no banana pudding on the menu.

Home Cooking Continued...

We liked this chicken recipe I found online. It seems Chinese dish, but it reminds us honey BBQ. I usually don't follow the recipe,or don't measure ingredients, but I have to do for this one.

Last Summer Lunch

Two weeks make difference. I thought Amsterdam was cold, but New York is getting cold. Especially in the morning.
Almost last time to cook dishes using summer vegetables.

Windmill and Rainbow

Not a traditional windmill but one for power generation. It has been very unstable today. It's a unique view, right?

Sunday, gets BETTER

A typical Sunday in Brussels, I took a walk to the square where all the chocolate stores located. There was a market from some region in France.
They were mainly selling, wine, cheese, bread, and of course Foie Gra. I could not buy 40 euro jaw, but this cute jaw with some fig in.
It wad a no car day in Brussels, so many bicycles in the city but not on the highway.
When I checked in at the hotel in Amsterdam, I got a room with terrace. Really nice view and it is cool to have a coffee outside.

Status Makes Difference

I travel a lot, mainly on business, so I am so used to the idea of status at everywhere - hotel, airline, car...
This weekend is a good example, I paid less than 80 euro, but I have been assigned to a junior suite, which is like my apartment size, with obviously breakfast. Besides, everyone recognizes me by ad king "how are you?" in a personal way. I needed to be rewarded on my hard work, right?

Another Ramen Shop

I found this place online. It was highly rated but not by Japanese. Looks cool and owner was Japanese, a good sign.
Ramen was actually really good, and I am sure that I will be back.

Drive to Brussels

I decided to spend a weekend in Brussels again to just get away from the same city and the hotel.
Close to 3 hours of drive was not too bad. Typical scenery in the Netherlands. Flat, green and a lot of cows.

Home Cooking Continued

Nothing better than home cooking, so another stay in dinner despite it is Saturday. Found an interesting recipe and we tried it... A huge success...

Still Summer

This is the final push of the summer, weather wise and food wise.
No more 90 degrees in the forecast, and no more fresh corn.
We both like pickles, so summer is a great season for that. Two types this time... Almost like salad.

Special Dinner

Tonight was one of the most importation days in a year. As our tradition, we went to Sushi Den sitting in front of our preferred chef Mr. K.
We ate not a big Sashimi eater and we have some fish we don't eat, I carefully selected the fish one by one. It was all delicious, maybe because it was a special night after all... Till next year.

It Happened Again

This was the second time I got bumped to the business class to JFK. The status between gold and PLATINUM makes a huge difference after all. The meals were the same but I had a glass of white wine and I chose fish dish this time.
Now we have FOUR houses thank to the flight attendant allowing me to take two and the person next to me giving his. There are total of 92 houses so 88 to go.

AMS Airport

It's finally Thursday to go home. The weather has been nice here so not much to complain but it is always nice to-be home. Another upgrade? Well let's see how it goes.

Healthy Desert

You can not eat fatty deserts all the time, so this is some compromises I need to do during the week. Still the yogurt is full fat here.
I have a room on the opposition side facing the river. My room is even bigger than last tome. Not too bad.

From The East Side

Just want to give you a perspective. The buildings at the right hand are where my hotel is located. Center is the downtown. For some reason there is a big Chinese restaurant on the canal.

It Looks Pretty But...

Amsterdam is famous for many things but not all is good. This is one of them - Red Light district. You can't really see what is happening from this shot, but not for children...

Another Bicycle Riding Day

It is a perfect day to be outside and ride a bicycle. Mid 60 with a lot of sunshine.
Same sweet place I stopped by to get some sweets. The one with pink cream on top is a typical dutch sweet.  Both were yummy.
Funny thing happened this morning at the hotel. I ran into the person I worked with like 10 years ago in NY. He said he lives in Amsterdam. A very small world.
