It is almost impossible to have a garden/backyard in NYC including Brooklyn Heights, unless you are lucky enough to have/own a town house with $$$ price tag.
Like many New Yorkers, I don't have a garden or terrace, so my garden is only a couple of pots at the window with herbs. This year I have Thyme, Rosemary and Basil. I use them for cooking all the time, and one time I marinated the chicken with them along with Lime and they came out really nice.
